Welcome to “BDMS Adult ECMO Training Course”, Bangkok, Thailand

The course was being conducted since 2016 by the faculty of the ECMO Center at Bangkok hospital; This instructive 3 days ELSO Endorsed course is designed for physicians (intensivists, surgeons, etc.), nurses, perfusionists and other healthcare professionals caring for patients who receive Extracorporeal Life Support. It is a 3-day course that covers most aspects of ECMO management comprehensively with simulation and lecture components attached to it. The topics are scattered over 3 days with the course starting at 8 am. and ending at 5 pm. on the three days. Of the 27 odd hours the participants spend on the course – 7 hours are spent on lectures and the remaining time on small group teaching based on water drills and simulation. The lectures will cover subjects like components of the ECMO circuit, indications for ECMO, contraindications, managing the patient on ECMO, cannulation strategy, physiology, anticoagulation, and troubleshooting, etc.

The practical stations have learning objectives hands on sessions are 30 minutes each with 5-6 delegates in each group proposed with one or two instructors. More than 50 % is spent on hands on training. The water drills and high-fidelity simulations cover all of the ECMO emergencies. All the simulation scenarios are comprehensive. Skill assessment at the end of the course looks at technical, cognitive and behavioral aspects, critical steps are identified prior to the step and reaction times are recorded.

The course will be held from May 7-9, 2025 at BDMS Simulation Center, Bangkok Heart Hospital, Bangkok, Thailand. The number of participants is maximized to 18. Besides of the course, the registration fee will cover ELSO’s manual, handout, lunches and coffee breaks.

Payment Terms, Replacement and Cancellation


  • Replacement or Cancellation requests must be notified in writing/email to the Secretariat.
  • Before April 1, 2025: A 30% of registration fee will apply for cancellation and complimentary replacement.
  • From April 1, 2025: No refund and a USD 100 administration fee for replacement.
  • Refunds will be processed within one month after the Training by credit card facility.
